#1 Indie Mainstream Song - Independent Music Network

We just climbed up to #1 on the Indie Mainstream charts (Independent Music Network) this week. That's the one where you, the fans, have voted for us.

Thanks for making this happen... we only have a couple more weeks of chart promotion, so if you want to stop by to vote again for the next week of charts, you can go here.

Thanks again! See you Sunday night...

Hey all!

Hope you had a hot and steamy weekend of Valentine's Day love (even if it took a jar of peanut butter and your dog).

We continue to be busy here in Donkeyland Ranch (think of Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch without the child-trauma - see pic below for inspiration):

First off, we are still working to make our new album available at the end of this month. However, it will only be initially to our close fans who have been waiting patiently or otherwise. We won't be "putting it on the market" officially (including some possible stores, the digital outlets like ITunes, etc.) until April. Over the next week, we'll be changing out the MySpace songs to our new stuff, too.

So, wait for an announcement on how you, loyal fan that you are, can purchase this in advance. In other related news, the mixer on some of our newest album just won his own Grammy Award for engineering (Album: "Raices" of "Los Tigres Del Norte" in the category "Best Norteno Album"). So we have a Grammy Award winner in our Donkey midst! Congrats to Alfonso Rodenas!!In an attempt to add some celebration to the pending release, we have booked three shows for the month of March. Details for the first two are below (both at the Knitting Factory). The third will probably be on March 27th, but we're still figuring out the details.

For more information on any of these shows, please check our Facebook, MySpace, or Website:

• Sunday, March 1st @ The Knitting Factory (Front Room); ALL AGES ($8); Donks on at 11pm. Playing with a great brother/sister act that we love - Jeremy and Jessica Burgan.

• Friday, March 20th @ The Knitting Factory (Alterknit Lounge); ALL AGES ($10; time still being worked out for NMD's set, but the night starts at 8pm officially). This is with our good friends and last year's tour-mates The Hot Toddies and Get Set Go.

Our "Hot AC" radio run for "Cherry" continues (you can still vote at Independent Music Network), but we're also in talks to possibly have our NEW album go out to college radio in April.

Good things a'happenin'.
Hope to see you at the shows!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our increasingly "late" show last night. It was great seeing so many familiar faces on a "school" night. We had a blast and hope you did as well!

We are still looking for uses for Tim's hose. It was sadly neglected last evening. Also, to get serious again for a moment - if you would like to donate to our favorite charity, "Getting Taffy to Africa" please make checks out to New MaximumDonkey. We'll make sure it gets to those in need of Saltwater Taffy in Africa.

Next week - Stardust, Downey, CA (1/31).

Thanks again!

"Cherry" has it's first week in radio (thanks to URLabel.net and UE3Promotions!) and we're off to a great start. The song is #1 Most Added at "Top 40" according to New Music Weekly and #2 Most Added at "Hot AC." We'll keep you posted on where you might be able to hear this and let you know how the "climb" is going...

So in case anyone didn't catch it right before the New Year, our favorite news source, "The Onion," listed our band name as one of their "What the Hell Does that Mean" lists from last year. They compile a year-end list of notably bad, weird, crazy, and odd band names that come across their desk and we were one of them.
Check the link HERE.
It's surprising it took them this long to "find" us considering they reviewed our act about two years ago.

In other news, as part of the ongoing excitement surrounding our upcoming "Cherry" radio promotion, the single "Cherry" is again available (under different circumstances) on ITunes.
This time as part of the "URLABEL. NET" compilation CD for this year.
Check it out HERE.
If you don't have this song from "Spirit of the Donks" yet, here's your chance to get it AND listen to some other great artists' work. In about a month, a remixed version of "Cherry" will be going up on that site as well, so if anyone wants to re-support the band/song, that might be a good chance. We'll let you know when that happens. Stay tuned for some possible radio stations that might be playing this as well.

See you at the show, Jan.
22!

We have "signed" to a label that is releasing our new CD ("Square Root of All Evil") in February of the new year.

How did we get so lucky? We, along with our friends "The Power Cords" and "Get Set Go" set up our own label (name to be announced soon). That way we can get the album that has been completed for some time into your hands that much sooner. It also means you get to full support us 100% by buying it from the label directly. We'll eventually be available on a lot of the "usual" digital outlets as well. It'll be a very interactive website too, like MySpace, allowing everyone to socialize a bit more.

As things progress, we'll let you know.
In the meantime, we're "teasing" the release with a new design on our MySpace page (come check it out).

We're playing again on Jan. 22, 2009 as well (at the Knitting Factory). More news to come.

See you around!
